These vans operate similar to bus service, with one major difference: They will pick-up—or drop-off—passengers anywhere along the highway. We use them constantly, often catching a colectivo van to a point near our destination, then flagging down a taxi for the final short distance. Price ranges from 20 to 35 pesos (about $1.50 to $2.50us) depending upon distance traveling. There are two companies:.
• The taxi union operates between Cancun and Playa del
Carmen, and also between Playa del Carmen and Tulum.
• Playa Express only runs between Cancun
and Playa del Carmen.
